Beloved???

In Jude verse 17 he address the beloved by stating, “But you, beloved…” What a great statement! Beloved! In this portion of scripture Jude is talking about the believer. Do you realize that when a person becomes a follower of Jesus Christ that he or she is beloved by God. This transformation from enemy of God to child of God can and does only take place through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. He completely redeems us from our sinful state and transforms us into children of the living God, Beloved. The problem and challenge is to allow this stance before the Lord almighty to impact the way that we act day-in and day-out.

At the movies for xmen

Aimee, Brandon, and I are at the theater waiting for the new xmen movie to start a 12:01. It was aimee’s idea, in which she must have read my mind becuase I have been waiting for it to come out. The showing is almost sold out.

Seized by the Hand…

“…So the men seized him by the hand…” Genesis 19:16. Genesis 19 is not one of the most kind hearted chapters of the Bible. As a matter of fact many people stay completely away from it. They feel it is too harsh, not loving, or even unfair. But in the midst of destruction, God gives us a picture perfect, Kodak moment of salvation. The cities Sodom and Gomorrah are about to be destroyed and Lot is brought to the understanding of the pending doom. He then is rescued from this horrible situation by two angels who seize him by the hand and remove him and his family from the cities. This is a great picture of what God does for us, in the midst of the pending doom due to our sin, God reaches down and “grabs us by the hand” and saves us. He is so loving, kind, caring, and mighty that even though I am stuck in my sin that He saved me through His son Jesus Christ. Although chapter 19 of Genesis has destruction in it, it is a great picture and reminder of salvation!

Higher then Angels…

“For to which of the angels did He ever say, ‘YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU’?” (Hebrews 1:5) Catch what is being stated, Christ is above all angels. Those who were being written to were struggling with the teaching as to wether or not Christ was on the same level as Angels. The author of Hebrews makes the argument that their is not one angel that God the Father declared as begotten. The statement that Christ is Begotten of God carries tremendous weight. Our Lord and Savior was Begotten of God, means that God the Father brought about the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is brings the most glory to God the Father. Jesus is not another angel but rather he is much higher, there will be a day when all on earth will declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. When Christ served here on earth the angels ministered to him. Christ himself states that at his very word legions of angels would come to his rescue (Matt. 26:53) Jesus Christ is far above the created beings called angels. In Jude we learn that there are certain angels that have a condemnation awaiting for them that will come at the day of Judgement. Elsewhere in scripture we learn that Christ will be the one judging. Jesus Christ is not some exalted angel, He is our Lord and Savior. He is the God who humbled himself to come into humanity to save us from our dead state due to sin. He died in our place and rose from the dead to show forth that He is more powerful then death and that he conquered the grave on our behalf. Jesus Christ deserves, demands, and declares that we worship Him not as an exalted angel but rather as Lord.

With the excitement of the new movie Knowing with well known actors, I must say that I was dissapointed in the movie itself. While the graphics of the movie were great and up to the last three minutes you sit there wondering if the movie is going to point everything to God, instead it gives a worldly explination to everything. But this concept of knowing, knowing future events before they happen has always been a facinating thing. There is one who knows all things, He can see into our hearts, predict the future, knows the motives of man, he is God Almighty. He is a living God who loves us and He hates our sin at the same time. God Almighty sent His one and only Son to earth to redeem mankind. His name is Jesus Christ. He is our savior who can see past the false questions, He is the one who can look past the fake motives, and He is the one who died for our sins. Overall I give the movie a 5 out of 10.

PAY YOUR VOWS….

Without warning life brings and has difficult times. Situations arise and all that one can due is throw their hands into the air and proclaim that he or she is not in control. In Psalm 61:8 it states “So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may pay my vows day by day.” Our job, responsibility, and priveldge is to sing praise to God. In the hard times sing praise, and in the times when blessings are flowing sing praise. God is worthly of praise even when it seems as though it is not working out for us. In times of financial struggle the believer must praise God! In times of uncertainty the believer must praise God. Our vows must start with praising God and acknowledging that God is in control of all things. Start any vow, anygiving, any request with the praising God.

“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, …” Acts 3:19 Who stated such a statement? Peter, one of the followers of Jesus, who abondond Christ in the heat of the moment. Peter, the one who was asked three times by Christ if he loved Him. Peter understood repentence. His life was changed by the very fact that Christ rose again. May of us, including me, have be changed by the real and living Jesus Christ but we are mute when it comes to speaking about Him. We have reduced our converstations about Him to believers, Bible Studies, Youth Group, Sunday School, or something affiliated with church. The convicting truth of the matter is those who do not believe need to repent. They need Jesus Christ more then anything. They need Him more then our friendship, more then a meal, and even more then a job. But we have concluded that we must befriend them, love them, feed them, provide for them then they will be more likely to hear about Christ, the througth of the matter is that we should be talking about Christ all of the time. How often is our Risen Lord, apart of your daily converstations with the lost?

“Guilt Of Thy Brothers”

“O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown ever to the heavens…” These are the words of Ezra after he hears the news that Israel has married into other nations. Can you imagin this type of setting, they just get back from being in exile due to this very fact, diobeying God. Now word comes to Ezra that his fellow men are commiting the very same sin. How could they do this? Is not the memory of being captive still fresh in their minds? Can they no longer remember why it is that the temple which is being rebuilt is no where near the splender that it once was? With the fingure being pointed so easily at this nation, may we not do so for long as we have fellow brothers in Christ who are sinning and we say nothing. The sad thing is that we feel no remorse when it comes to our brothers/sisters spiritual walk and if we hear that they are sinning we simply say, “That’s too bad!”

Oh God, forgive us for not caring about our walk and even more neglecting the opportunity to push our brothers and sisters in Christ towards your Son. Help us to live up to what is said in James 5:20 “let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

Dinamics of Life

With all that has taken place since I can recall, one thing remains the same, God is God. Wether with distruction or construction, life or death, closeness or distance, one thing stays the same, God is God. It is sad to say that this very simple thought is so often presummend. We often over looked and understate this truth. When God is God, hard times make sence. When God is God, commitments have a basis to stand. When God is God, our very being is given purpose for day to day living. My beloved believer, forget not the truth that God is God. This means that He is in control, not us. This means that He has all authority, not us. This means that all is for Him, not us. God is God, and all exists to bring Him glory and honor. All comfort, security, and strength can and is found in this simple truth; God is God.
